クラスでは楽しくそして手ごたえのある学びを目指し、そしてさらにスピーキング力アップに向けて活動に取り組んでいます。クラスの一つの目標として、自由会話の演習があげられます。質問に対して応え、生徒同士の会話の活動を増やすことで英語で意思疎通する喜びを感じ、さらに楽しく興味のあることについて会話をすることで、スピーキング力が大きく伸びてきています。

また、リーディングやリスニングの理解力の向上に努めています。これらの練習は全般的な英語力の向上だけでなく、英検で成果を出すためにも役立ちます。特に様々な形式の文章を読み、理解する練習を多く取り入れています。また最近は、既習の知識と推測をうまくリスニング問題に活用する練習も始めました。リスニングの際は文法や単語を一字一句理解しなくても、大まかな内容をつかむことが大切です。練習は始めたばかりで簡単に身につけられる技能ではないですが、皆さんと一緒にチャレンジしていくことを楽しみに感じています。

最後に、今月の英検を受けたみなさん、普段の力を存分に発揮できたことを願っています。結果が楽しみですね。これからも日々学び、挑戦し続けましょう。今年度もあと残りわずか、がんばりましょう！

We have been busy in Super Kids to make it a fun yet challenging learning environment. I have been encouraging more English speaking in classes. One of my first goals for the class was to get students to talk more freely. The students have improved greatly by being rewarded for offering answers in class and a lot of student-to-student talking activities. It’s great to see the students having interesting conversations in English!

We have also been studying how to improve reading and listening comprehension. These are skills necessary for not only general English ability, but for levelling up on Eiken. The students have been learning about different text types for reading and how to comprehend them. For listening, we have recently started teaching how to use students’ prior knowledge and prediction to gain understanding. The main point of this is for students to understand while listening, even if they don’t know all the words or grammar structures. It’s a difficult skill and one we’ve just started exploring but I’m excited to see the students’ progress!

To all the students who took their Eiken tests from 25th-26th of January, I hope you did well! I can’t wait to see the results. Let’s keep challenging ourselves to improve every day. We have one more unit in Super Kids, so let’s do our best!
